They offer resources for individuals struggling with mental health conditions, as well as training programs for schools, workplaces, and communities to recognize warning signs and respond effectively. By combining science, advocacy, and community support, the organization plays a central role in the national effort to prevent suicide and promote mental wellness.

IN MEMORY OF MATTHEW BEWICK

The family of Matthew R. Bewick has been diligently trying to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in memory of our son, Matthew. Matthew meant a lot to a lot of people. Matt was kind, respectful, funny with a hearty laugh. He loved his family and friends whom he considered family. He was dedicated, loyal to a fault and loved working for Local Union 373 as a plumber/steamfitter/welder.

Needless to say it has been a very difficult time for our family and friends. That is why we are building this website as a tribute to the spirit of Matthew R Bewick. We have found comfort in our efforts to raise awareness through our fundraising for the Foundation. If we can prevent a tragedy through our work, it will be comforting to us, that another family will not have to endure the pain that we have been through. All of our efforts will have been worth it.

Matthew was born on August 6,1992 and tragically passed away by suicide on October 24,2023. Matthew graduated from Marlboro High School in Marlboro, NY. began his career by serving his Apprenticeship with Local Union 373 in Newburgh, NY. Matt had 2 dogs, Mack and Buddy that he treated like his children.

Matthew was passionate about many things. Vintage snowmobiles, motorcycles and collecting Union pins were his favorite.

Matt was strong-willed with a heart of gold.
